WELCOME TO CRUNCHY LEAF SEASON

Today is the first day of autumn. Yay! I always considered myself a summer person but I have been really embracing fall in the last few years. The temperatures are much nicer and less sweaty. Here is a sneak peek inside my sketch book at an upcoming project that I am working on. More to come in a few days. Let me know what you think. I really appreciate your comments. Hope you have a fantastical day!

THE 100TH DAY

Well, this is it. The day has come. This is the 100th day of the 100 day project. I am happy and sad all at the same time. 100 days was a lot but it was great fun! I want to thank Chris and Reed for giving me fantastic suggestions on phrases to use. Thanks for all the likes on my sketches. I appreciate all of them. When I initially joined the 100 day project I wanted to chose lettering as my theme because it was something that I felt like I needed to work on. I didn't want to take the easy route. I learned a lot and I definitely feel like I have improved as an artist.

Which one was your favorite? I would love to read your comments.

PLUVI-HUH?

This is an excellent word I just learned. I know some people hate the rain but I just love it. It is very soothing.

THERE'LL BE DAYS LIKE THIS

Mama said. Long ago in my parents bedroom my sister and I used to listen to my mom's old 45s. She had a lot of them in a little wire rack. There was one that was more special that all the rest. It was Mama Said by the Shirelles. We listened to it over and over again and when we weren't listening to it we were singing it. Fun times. Did you have a childhood experience like this? What was the song that stood out to you?

NEVER GIVE UP

The other day I was watching the documentary "Salinger". At one point they discuss all the times J.D. Salinger's work was rejected. I was very surprised by this. To me, he is one of the most amazing writers of all time, to think of him getting even one rejection letter seems completely absurd. Maybe we should think about rejection completely differently. Instead of feeling bad about ourselves maybe we should wait for other people to catch up to our greatness.

DREAMIN'

For this quote I tried to be a little more free with the letters and the x-height. I think I will be more free with the next one also and see where it leads me.

MOST DISLIKED WORDS

I read recently that "moist" is one of those words that most people have a strong distaste for. I'm not sure why it is so disliked. I think about moist chocolate cake and I'm happy. There are two words though that I don't like at all; blouse (ugh!) and slacks (ahhhhhhh). What words do you dislike? I'd like to know.

THE TRUTH HURTS

I actually love and hate this quote because it is so true. Sometimes you can't help worrying about some things but to think those things are owning you bothers me. I guess we all need something to work on. HA! This is 83 of 100 of the 100 day projectSee more of my 100 Day Project here. Hope you have a fantastical day! Let me know what you think.
